I have special memories of horses. When I was very young I recall being at a horse farm in my manual chair and having a huge animal drop its head into my lap. It was a huge draft horse but I was not afraid. He was the gentlest animal and he was connecting with me. My mother then made arrangements so that I could ride horses in a hippotherapy program for disabled children. Being up on that horse was a whole new world. I was up high, I was moving free of my wheelchair, and I was with a warm wonderful animal. I remember all those feelings each time I paint a horse.
